GREEN BAY, Wis.—Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ use of the hallucinogenic drink ayahuasca during an offseason retreat isn’t regarded a violation of the NFL’s drug policy.

Rodgers mentioned on “The Aubrey Marcus Podcast” last week how he went on an ayahuasca turn away to Peru in 2020, before the third of his 4 MVP seasons.

Ayahuasca is described as a psychoactive beverage native to South America and is regularly used for religious, ritualistic or medicinal purposes.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy stated Monday that it wouldn’t have induced a positive test result on both the substance abuse or performance-enhancing substance policies collectively bargained via the NFL and its players’ association.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel first said McCarthy’s comment.

Rodgers stated on the podcast that the turn away gave him “a deep and significant understanding for life” and added that “I came again and knew I was never going to be the same.

”Rodgers stated he believed the experience helped pave the way for his success that year.
