David Beckham and Gary Neville were present at Sir Alex Ferguson’s wife funeral

David Beckham and Gary Neville, two ex-Manchester United players, were present at Lady Cathy Ferguson’s funeral. Lady Cathy was Sir Alex Ferguson’s late wife.

Cathy’s untimely death at the age of 84, taking behind the former Manchester United manager and their three kids, was officially announced earlier this month. We are profoundly saddened to inform that Lady Cathy Ferguson passed away on Thursday. She is survived by her husband, three sons, two sisters, 12 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. The family requests discretion at this time.

Tributes to Cathy have poured in since her death and are expected to do so beyond her funeral. Beckham and Neville were both seen making their way to the funeral in Scotland on Monday.

Beckham had previously paid tribute to Cathy during an interview with Sky Sports at the Qatar Grand Prix. The former England captain, who came through at United under Ferguson, said: “Obviously deepest sympathies go to the boss because to have Cathy by his side for a long, long time, got many, many years to be the strength that he needed through his career and through his life, it’s a really sad time for him and his family and the grandkids, so we obviously send our love to him.

“She was an incredible person and someone… We looked up to the boss, we also looked up to Cathy, so it’s a really sad time for him.” United also paid tribute to Cathy following the news.

A club statement read: “Everyone at Manchester United sends our heartfelt condolences to Sir Alex Ferguson and his family on the passing of Lady Cathy. Lady Cathy was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a tower of strength for Sir Alex throughout his career.”

A host of other former Manchester United players were also in attendance in Glasgow, including Nicky Butt and Park Ji-Sung. Club legends Bryan Robson and Steve Bruce were also at the funeral, as was Darren Fletcher, United’s current technical director.
