Former Chelsea defender, Glen Johnson, has named the Blues as Manchester City’s biggest rival for the Premier League title next season.
Johnson believes Mauricio Pochettino’s side will challenge Man City, who won the Treble in 2022/23 season.
Chelsea failed to finish in the top ten during the 2022/23 season, while Man City won the title.
“I obviously believe that Liverpool will improve next season but I believe there is a big gap between Manchester City and everybody else,” Johnson told Betfred.
“I don’t believe they will challenge for the Premier League title next season. However, I do believe Chelsea will be the surprise package, if I am being honest.
“Chelsea has a fantastic squad but they fired poorly last season. However, now they have a good manager and an excellent squad. I believe they will have a point to prove and they will challenge more than anybody expected.
Chelsea will be their closest rival, but I don’t believe they’ll be able to take Manchester City all the way.”
