Former Manchester United defender, Rio Ferdinand has named Manchester United and Arsenal as the two clubs that would challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.

Ferdinand accepts Arsenal and Manchester United will go near testing Man City, however, Pep Guardiola’s side will in any case hold the Head Association title.

The new Premier League tournament will begin on Friday, with champions Manchester City taking on Burnley.

“Manchester United, together with Arsenal, have challengers separately. Assuming that anybody will get near them [Man City], it will be those two,” Ferdinand told Dynamite Sports.

“I actually think there is a contrast between Manchester Joined together and Manchester City: on the pitch and off the pitch.

“Be that as it may, I think Manchester United are heading down the correct path. I figure you can perceive how they have moved toward the transfer window, it has been exceptionally unequivocal and direct.

“Also, I think Arsenal have done likewise. They have selected eminently well in this transfer window. Three excellent players will work on the team as well as the beginning XI.

“They will go close this season; however, with respect to City, I don’t think anybody will pip them to the title.”
