Everton needs to add more new players before summer transfer closes

Everton still needs at least two or three more players to bolster their roster with less than two days left in the summer transfer window.

Arnaut Danjuma, Jack Harrison, and Ashley Young have all joined on loan for one season, while Youssef Chermiti and Beto have inked permanent deals with the Toffees thus far this summer.

To improve their worryingly porous defense this season, Everton still ideally needs another striker, a wide attacker with pace and flair, and at least one extra centre-back.

That is a tall order given how little time is left in the window and how long it normally takes the Blues to get their transfers done.

And while stories persist about certain players being of continued interest to the club there are also still rumours about the future of several current players.

Several reports claim that Everton are still pursuing Southampton’s Che Adams and Kamaldeen Sulemana as well as others.

At the same time a number of Toffees players are still looking likely to be heading for the exit. among them Demarai Gray and Tom Cannon as well as fringe players such as Andre Gomes and Jean-Philippe Gbamin.

One other name who might now also be leaving Merseyside is Alex Iwobi.

The 2018 signing is in the last year of his current contract and hasn’t as yet been offered a new one, so rumours indicate that several other clubs are considering a late bid for him.

If Everton do let Gray and Iwobi go they will be very short of wide attacking options, especially given that Dwight McNeil is still injured and Harrison won’t be available until after the international break.

These sorts of stories are always doing the rounds as the transfer window draws to a close so we might well take them with a pinch of salt.
