Newcastle United are believed to be ‘preparing an offer’ for Eintracht Frankfurt winger Jesper Lindström, having shown an interest in him.

That’s according to BILD, who say that both Newcastle and AC Milan have ‘expressed concrete interest’ in the 23-year-old this summer.

According to their information, both clubs are now seriously considering a move for the Denmark international. It ‘can be assumed’ that both clubs are now preparing an offer for the player.

He was the subject of a recent bid from RB Leipzig, who offered €25m for the player but saw that rejected by Eintracht’s sports director Markus Krösche.

He, and Frankfurt, demand between €30 and €40 million if they sanction a transfer. It’s believed that Newcastle shouldn’t have a problem paying that figure.

Lindström himself is more than open to a move, with BILD quoting him as saying, “I said that I want to play where it’s fun, and I think it’s fun to play in the Champions League and the big tournaments.”

He’s been an ‘absolute top performer’ since arriving from Copenhagen two years ago in a €6.5m deal. There is hope at the German club that he can earn them a sizeable profit from any transfer.

It remains to be seen whether Newcastle will bid to sign him, but they like the player and are preparing a bid to do so.
