Nigeria 3-1 CAN, Esther Onyenezide helped the Falconet secure 9 points in Group C

The Falconets of Nigeria under the tutelage of Coach Chris Danjuma Musa were in action in the early hour of today in the final Group C game of the ongoing U-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica against Canada at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto.

Nigeria in the game were able to maintain their perfect run as they made it three wins in three games played which got them advanced to the knockout stages with grand style and proper winning mentality.

The Falconets despite booking a spot in the quarter finals ahead of the game were able to show the quality of a would-be Champion with another master class and all-round performance that made them accrued all the possible nine points in the group stage.

Nigeria in the game were so determined as they come from behind to secure the the crucial win by netting a massive three goals despite conceding first as early as the second minutes to the start of the game.

Canada opened the scoring sheet in the 2nd minute of the game with a goal from Kaila Novak to make it one nil before Nigeria got levelled with an equalizer from Esther Onyenezide, who scored via penalty as she put the ball away from the spot in the 24th minute to make it 1-1.

In the 32nd minute, Nigeria were able to take the lead with another goal from the spot kick as Esther Onyenezide completed her brace of the game by making it two goals to one going into the half time break.

The tempo of the game got more tensed up in the second half as they both put up some more physical, tactical and technical displays but none was able to found the back of the net until the 91st minute when Chioma Olise got the lead extended for the Falconets and as such ended the game three goals to one at full time.

They will then be hoping to keep the winning streaks going in their next game so as to continue their pursuit in the competition.
