Chelsea boss, Graham Potter has provided an update on defender, Reece James’ injury after his side’s Premier League 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Tuesday.

James was forced off injured during Chelsea’s win against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge.

The full-back had suffered a knee injury in October that dashed his hopes of playing for England at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

However, James was back in Chelsea’s starting XI against Bournemouth as he was forced off after 53 minutes.

The 23-year-old appeared in discomfort during the match, falling to the pitch with his head in his hands and quickly signalling to the bench that he was unable to continue.

Asked for an update after Chelsea defeated Bournemouth, Potter said at his post-match press conference, “Not too much [we know at this stage].

“We are going to see in the next 24, 48 hours, but it was disappointing to lose him as quickly as we did.”

He added, “It’s the same area, so we are concerned. We will have to see in the next 24/48 hours. It’s a bit too soon, but it was in that action, a chop, and he felt something. We have to keep our fingers crossed at the moment.

“He is disappointed, of course. At the moment, we are just hoping it is not as bad, and we will keep our fingers crossed.”
