Rio Ferdinand gives verdicts on Man Utd’s new captain
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has weighed in on the club’s newly appointed captain, Bruno Fernandes.
Man United announced Fernandes as club captain.
The Portugal international replaced Harry Maguire, who was recently stripped of captaincy by manager Erik ten Hag.
Reacting to the development, Ferdinand, in a series of tweets via his Twitter handle, said Fernandes likes taking risks. Ferdinand added that the midfielder would benefit from his new responsibilities.
“What an honour it is to play for Man Utd but to be given the extra responsibility to lead the team out is something special,” Ferdinand posted on Twitter.
“Bruno has delivered numbers [and] performances throughout his time in a red shirt that makes his announcement as captain inevitable.
“He takes risks, he craves responsibility, and he strives to make a difference – all positive traits. I really think he will thrive. Good luck.”
