South Korea forward, Son Heung-min has expressed happiness after his team defeated Portugal 2-1 in the World Cup group stage tie on Friday night.

Heung-min also warned Brazil that South Korea would do their best to beat them when both teams clash in the round of 16 on Monday.

A late goal from Hee-chan gave South Korea the victory over Portugal.

“We waited really long for this moment and we as players believed altogether we could do this,” the Tottenham Hotspur star said at his post-match press conference after the game.

“There were moments when I was not able to do my best and I am thankful for my teammates that they were able to cover me in the moments I was not able to fulfil my duties and I am very proud of them.

“At first, I thought it was going to be a hard game and we expected it to be a hard game.

“It was really hard, but our players didn’t give up and we worked hard. We did well and I am proud of our players, they did well.”

He added, “Going into the round of 16 was our goal and now we have higher goals.

“No one knows the world of football, especially now, and since we have a chance to beat Brazil, we’ll do our best and prepare our best game.”
