Tottenham’s first friendly ended up in defensive problems

There was plenty for Ange Postecoglou to enjoy as he watched his Tottenham team in action for the first time. This was in a pre-season friendly against Premier League rivals West Ham.

Spurs were much the better side in Tuesday’s 3-2 defeat to their London rivals in Perth, and had 30 shots to their opponents’ four.

However, familiar lapses at the back of a team that conceded 63 Premier League goals last season cost Tottenham. This undid the promising attacking work that pleased Ange Postecoglou. Even though this was only a friendly game, the clamor for center-back signings will intensify.

Aside from Spurs’ promise in attack and Manor Solomon’s and Alfie Devine’s brilliant displays, as well as Richarlison’s disappointing performance, it was another disappointing night for Richarlison.
