French Ligue 2 club, Girondis Bordeaux are not willing to allow Josh Maja to leave for another club.

Maja became a free agent after his contract with Les Girondis expired last week Friday.

The former French Ligue 1 champions are, however, desperate to tie the Nigerian to a new contract.

“We had discussions,” Club president Gerard Lopez told France Bleu, via Girondis4ever.

“We really like Josh, he was also important during the season. He is a player who has opportunities elsewhere,”

Maja scored 16 goals in 38 league games for Bordeaux last season.

The 24-year-old joined the club from Sunderland in January 2019.

United still persisting for Atlanta star man Hojlund after huge tag

Manchester United are continuing to hold talks with Atalanta over striker Rasmus Hojlund.

United suffered a setback in their pursuit of the Danish international last month. This is after the Italian outfit slapped a club record £86m transfer fee on the youngster.

United, whose interest in England skipper Harry Kane has cooled, could now send Atalanta a player they purchased from them just two years ago. This could sweeten the deal.

United’s pursuit of Hojlund is set to rumble this summer. This is as they look to strengthen their forward line with the addition of an up-and-coming striker, who could lead the attack into the future.
