Their long-term activity in Bernardo Silva may eventually be capitalized on following today’s reports.

Manchester City dropping one of their key men, who can play a multitude of positions could weaken them this season.

Could the sale of Silva be a main issue in the PL title race? We believe so!

Latest reports on Silva

Whilst Silva has always been a fan of joining Barcelona, the club has moved to table an offer of around €50-60M, according to Gerard Romero.

But the transfer saga will likely rumble on due to Barcelona’s great financial issues.

It will also be a lengthy process given Frenkie de Jong’s situation where the club are unsure if he is going to move on or not.

According to the Spanish outlet Sport, the player is willing to take a pay cut to push the move over the line.

Could this open up the title race?

The title race has been contested between Liverpool and Manchester City in recent years and this year seems set to be no different – despite Liverpool’s opening game draw against Fulham.

With the signing of Erling Haaland, City look set to dominate the league once again but the potential loss of Silva, a player who’s been key for them in the last five years could open the door for Liverpool.

Without Silva, City loses a world-class player who knows the system, the squad and can play on either flank or even as a false nine.

If they don’t replace him, then City will lose around 15-25 goal contributions this year.

That means City will have to rely on the likes of Jack Grealish, Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden to improve their output to make up for Silva’s usual contributions.

It could leave them slightly exposed as the season goes on.
